About The Teacher

Anita was born and dance-trained in Townsville, Australia, attaining Honours for her Advanced Royal Academy of Dance (RAD) exam. Intending to follow a career in Health, but wanting to fulfil her urge to perform, she accepted a short dance contract in Asia and hasn’t looked back! After performing in Thailand, Japan, and on the Sydney Showboat in Australia, she then went on to dance on Cruise Ships in America and Europe, at the Moulin Rouge in Paris, and in Musical Theatre including the role of Lorraine in ‘42nd Street’, Germany. She has toured Finland, and has featured in galas in Milan, Martinique, and Bahrain to name a few. She holds an Honours degree in Occupational Therapy, and has clinical experience in working with children with learning difficulties and developmental disabilities. She completed her Yoga Instructor Certification with Triyoga in London, is a ballet, jazz and contemporary, tap and musical theatre examiner for Asia Pacific Dance Association, and an Xtend Barre instructor. She believes in the multi-faceted benefits of learning dancing and urges students to follow the challenging but thoroughly worthwhile path of dance in whatever way they choose.

About The Classes

Being involved in a dance class has a myriad of benefits for young children, not all of them physical. With a passion for teaching young children, Anita has used her experience as a professional dancer and trained Occupational Therapist to create the Spring Pointe dance program for children aged 2-8 years. It aims to introduce children and parents to the joys and learning opportunities of dancing, in a caring and playful environment. Spring Pointe classes provide a structured framework and play-based dance movements, games, and themes that motivate children and make them excited to return each week to see what’s in store.

Reviews

It’s heartwarming to see these ‘littlies’ grow in confidence and ability each week. These little dancers learn so much about themselves, respect for and acceptance of others, as well as developing their physical and cognitive abilities through your well-designed classes and your kind, encouraging approach.

All children, regardless of ability are praised and guided equally. Anita is encouraging and particularly good at relating to children who are experiencing shyness, while still maintaining control of a large group of small children. As a parent the classes are engaging and delightful to watch.

Your classes are different to any other that I have seen for this age group. You have managed to create a professionally run class which also has a safe, nurturing and fun environment where the children learn so much more than just how to dance. But they also laugh in the process!

I was looking for a dance class where my four year old could be just that, four. Anita has such a beautiful philosophy that shines through each week. Each lesson is filled with smiles and giggles. As a parent it is just so much fun to watch, Friday morning is the best part of our week.

Thanks for your amazing enthusiasm and providing new ways of teaching dancing in a fun and positive way each week. Out of all the teachers of various sports we have tried the girls in, you are easily in the number 1 spot!!
